The face off between the Senecca Nation of Indians and Mayor Byron Brown of Buffalo over the planned casino continues.
The Senecca Nation decided to take their case to the Common Council. The leaders of the Senecca Nation had delivered their side of story last Tuesday to each member of the council. Documents presented include the negotiations in regards to the casino and the stretch of Fulton Street.
The dialogue between Mayor Brown and the Senecca Nation had broken down last week. Phil Pantano, the spokesman of the Senecca, said that they are taking their case to the Common Council to show the actual facts that have happened during the dialogues.
Pantano said that the Senecca Nation and the Senecca Gaming Corporation are also planning the next step they would take.
Meanwhile, Mayor Brown is pushing for the written accord about casino related concerns. The mayor said that the casino issue is a long term proposal thus the sovereignty of nine acres will be long term and the town needs a legal document that will be strictly enforced.
Amidst the standoff, the Senecca Nation had approved last Tuesday the proposal for a smaller casino instead of the one hundred twenty five million casino originally planned in Buffalo.
